SANFORD
A jury today convicted a father of murder for shaking his 4-month-old baby to death.
Jurors deliberated four hours before finding Bryan Bratchell Sr., 30, guilty of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.
He's to be sentenced Nov. 28.
He faces a maximum of life in prison.
His son, Bryan Jr., stopped breathing and lapsed into a coma Jan. 16, 2002, shortly after his mother left the boy alone with his father.
Three days later, the infant was taken off life support and pronounced dead.
Medical experts told jurors the baby had been shaken so severely, it caused swelling and bleeding in his brain – the fatal injuries - and ruptured blood vessels in his eyes.
Bratchell Sr. gave Casselberry police three versions of what happened the day the baby was stricken. In the last, he said he was trying to play Nintendo but the baby wouldn't stop crying, so he shook the child five or six times.

This defendent was never given fair trial. The recoreded confession played for jury was taken during two hours of keeping the father, a severe diabetic, from having a snack or food, which affected his sugar elevel and state of mentation; no experts were brought on his behalf and none of his witnesses on the list he gave were brought by his public defender, or let's say his state defender; add to that the baby's prior conddition and his attachment to an oxygene tank and a heart regulator were never mentioned; the jury was shown one side and that was the state's side only--not an American way of Justice, but truth will be out there on a book on the shelf coming up soon.

DeleteSo when is this book coming out?.And wat is the name of it?
ReplyDeleteBleeding & swelling in the brain plus ruptured eye vessels doesn't sound like a medical condition from birth. It's a good day in Florida when this baby killer was convicted. Ladies as tempting as it is to leave your infant with a male relative including the dad please reconsider as shaken baby syndrome is much more likely to happen when a male is babysitting.
