Convicted killer in Montgomery murders dies


COLEMAN, FLA. - Convicted killer, James Richitelli, 52, formerly of
Eastford, Connecticut, was pronounced dead yesterday evening at the
federal facility, U.S. Penitentiary #2 in Coleman, Fla., according to
officials at the Vermont Department of Corrections.

Richitelli was serving two life sentences for the Oct. 31, 2005
double murders of Tom Patras and Valerie Papillo at Patras' home in
Montgomery, Vt.

Officials at the Vermont Department of Corrections said Richitelli
was found hanging from a top bunk 20 minutes after a 4 p.m. headcount
at the Florida facility.

After life-saving measures were taken, Richitelli was pronounced dead
at 5 p.m. An autopsy will be performed and the report is pending in
the next 30 days, officials said.
