Budget cuts? How about death penalty?
Lawmakers in a handful of states including Colorado, Kansas, Maryland, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire and New Mexico are at least considering halting the death penalty as a way to save money.
"Capital cases are expensive because the trials tend to take longer, they typically require more lawyers and more costly expert witnesses, and they are far more likely to lead to multiple appeals."
Fat chance of that happening in Florida, but here's the story from the New York Times.
