A man who was extradited to Ohio from a Florida prison on charges of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery was arraigned in Lucas County Common Pleas Court yesterday.
Jerry Hinds, 44, is charged in the murder of Jessie Coleman, 74, who was found dead in his Buffalo Street apartment March 7, 2005. He had been beaten with a blunt object and stabbed in the neck.
Yesterday, Hinds pleaded not guilty to the charges. Judge James Bates scheduled his trial for Sept. 2.
Hinds, who had been in a Florida prison on an unrelated charge, is in the Lucas County jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
Another defendant, Rodney Bunce, was sentenced last month to 28 years to life in prison after being convicted by a jury of his role in the killing.
