Sunshine State Executions

Florida announced it is resuming executions, the next scheduled for Nov. 15.

That is unfortunate. Civilized societies should not be strapping human beings down and killing them.

Florida, a capital punishment leader, suspended executions after one was botched last December. A first dose of chemicals failed to kill Angel N. Diaz. He moved, squinted, tried to mouth words. He received a second dose and took 34 minutes to die.

An autopsy showed that when inserting the lethal needles the executioner missed the veins, causing the slow death.

Barbaric.
