Daytona
Police on Sunday were searching for three young men said to have gunned down a South Daytona man in his driveway Saturday night.
Lyle C. Dorsey, 27, was shot multiple times in front of the house he shared with Vanessa W. Cacchioli, 24, according to South Daytona police, and died at Halifax Medical Center.
According to police, Cacchioli was approached about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in her driveway by three armed men who demanded that she let them inside.
Dorsey then emerged from the house, charged them and ran past, drawing their fire as Cacchioli dashed inside the house, locked the door and called the police.
The gunmen reportedly ran down the street and left in a car, possibly a Pontiac Grand Am, with dark tinted windows and Florida license tag U689EM.
Police said all three men were described as being in their early or mid-20s and wearing dark T-shirts and dark denim, baggy shorts. One was said to be 6-foot-2 and 215 to 220 pounds, with braided, shoulder-length hair tied off with rubber bands. The others were both said to be about 6 feet tall.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-888-277-8477.
