Florida Supreme Court upholds Charlotte death sentence

TALLAHASSEE: The Florida Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the death sentence of a man convicted of killing a Charlotte County couple back in 1997.

James "Jimbo" Ford appealed to the high court claiming that he wasn't properly represented by his attorneys.

Ford was sentenced to death for brutally murdering Kimberly and Greg Malnory. Authorities say they were beaten, stabbed and shot. Kimberly was also sexually assaulted.

The couple's young daughter was found in the couple truck, near their bodies. She was still strapped into her car seat.

Ford appealed his conviction saying his attorneys pursued a defense of voluntary intoxication - despite his objections. He also said they failed to show evidence that he was mentally retarded.

Finally, Ford claimed his lawyers waived his speedy trial rights without his permission.

The Supreme Court rejected each of Ford's claims and upheld his death sentence.

No word yet on if Ford plans any more appeals or if and when he will be executed.

How can this ANIMAL have the right to keep spending our tax dollars on appeals? What's wrong with this system???? This ANIMAL raped, tortured and killed my best friend and her husband IN FRONT OF THEIR DAUGHTER...yet it continues to file appeal after appeal...doesn't anyone else see something wrong with this? He doesn't deserve to breathe the same air we do. If I ever meet one of his family members, I'd spit in their face! This is NOT a human being...no human being could EVER do that to another. I remember Kimberly talking to me Friday before she died about their FAMILY outing, this ANIMAL wasn't invited, it was only at the insistence of Greg that she didn't protest his accompanying them...the biggest mistake she ever made was not insisting that they go alone, as a FAMILY...this ANIMAL knew what he was going to do and did it. WHY DOES HE KEEP WASTING OUR MONEY??? It needs to stop and this system needs an overhaul; my friend has have no second chances. Their lives are over. That ANIMALS should be too.
